Driving Tour To Beverly Hills Car Club and Lunch

On November 23, 2024 – Jeff Kilpatrick will lead a drive on Saturday morning leaving around 9:00 AM from the Starbucks on Winchester and Ynez near the Temecula mall—the drive will take around an hour and forty minutes (86 miles) with a stop about halfway for a bathroom break. All freeway driving. 

Our destination is one of the most unique vintage car dealerships in the entire United States—named The Beverly Hills Car Club – which has operated for many years from this same collection of warehouses. This business has bought vintage cars in every condition and brand for decades and holds over 500 vintage cars. Each car is priced for sale and information on the history and condition is available by scanning the code on your cellphone camera. A true walk back into automotive history. 

They have a warehouse of only Porsche vehicles – from the 1960’s and in every possible condition. Then another warehouse with all Mercedes and rows of Jaguar and 30 other brands.  From Rusted non-running cars, to  cars in mint show condition.

A warehouse of Mercedes Benz, Jaguars, Bentleys, American muscle cars, Corvettes, Rolls Royce and on and on. They allow visitors to peruse the collection, and their associates will answer questions. Really an experience if you like older vintage cars and have dreamed of finding a low cost sports car to restore. 

Also on the walls are wheels, hubcaps, and parts as well. The place is like a time capsule that holds all the cars we knew in our youth,  with many from before the time of even the oldest of us.  No cost of course—unless you fall ion love with one of these “mutts” and decide to take one home to your garage. John Salas II, general manager, will give us a tour and history of the dealership. He will explain their operating philosophy that guides them when buying vehicles for the collection and how they decide pricing etc. He also has some stories about cars that have come and gone and about some of their past customers. The complete collection is indoors – bumper to bumper – row after row—of cars that are no longer loved but each has a story to tell if we would listen.

Classic Cars For Sale | Beverly Hills Car Club

Following our time discovering all the cars in the collection we will drive to a landmark restaurant – Clearman’s North Woods Inn San Gabriel. This is a restaurant built like a huge log cabin and has snow on the roof. Sawdust and peanut shells on the floor (not a great place if you have a peanut allergy), bear traps on the walls and tables hewn from logs. The food ranges from salads. Burgers, chicken, and they are famous for their steaks on a steel sizzling plate. All you can eat salad and coleslaw of two different kinds, served in large metal bowls family style. Famous for their Cheese bread. Each of us will place our own order and pay separately. There is a full bar for those that are thirsty.

If we get to a total of 40 people than they will place our group in a private dining room otherwise they have long tables made from end-to-end sliced pine trees which will work as well.
